F A Q

Taiwan Functional Textiles is a certification system established by the Committee for Conformity Assessment of Accreditation and Certification on Functional and Technical Textiles, which is formed jointly by the industry, government, academic institutes and research organizations. It is a system of a series of certification standards designed specifically for the functional textiles (such as Antibacterial Textiles, Electromagnetic Shielding Textiles, Moisture Transferring and Quick Drying Textiles, Ultraviolet Protective Textiles , etc.). At present, 18 functional textiles certification standards have been passed and published. These standards are extremely high in public credibility since they are verified by qualified certification laboratories and guarded by strict certification system. The hang tags used by the general manufacturers are printed by the manufacturers themselves. Whether the product quality matches the actual effectiveness printed on the tag remains to be controversial.

The certification label of Taiwan Functional Textiles can be applied and used by manufacturers worldwide for textile related products. The certification label also can be applied to global textile marketing and sales channels.

If a company has productions throughout the year with the same product specification and large quantity, annual fee can be adopted to the application for batch-examination certification. If annual fee is adopted, items with the same specification can be submitted for unlimited number of times for the year. The company can save a lot of certification and inspection costs for the year.

If submitting application for batch-examination certification, the application form should be submitted to certification application window Coordinator Liu Xin-Ping (劉新蘋). After receiving the application form, Coordinator Liu will contact your company to arrange time for field sampling inspection.

While submitting application for antifungal textile certification, the applicant must enclose an original certification lab report from a third party for dermal irritation test of anti-odor finishing agent (PH value < 2) or allergenic test report (allergic reaction) of animal experiment and acute oral toxicity test (mice > 1000 mg/Kg, Lethal Dose, 50%).

In general, most manufacturers tend to ignore that while submitting application for far infrared textile testing, the textile must also be submitted to control group of non-far infrared yarn with same fabric structure/same yarn count for comparison test.

UPF is an anti-ultraviolet index for textiles, also a multiple concept. While exposing to the rays of the sun, the time for causing erythema (redness of the skin) can be extended to 50 times longer, about 500 minutes (about more than 8 hours), if wearing UPF50 garment for 10 minutes.

Besides Far Infrared Textiles Standard, the Committee for Conformity Assessment of Accreditation and Certification on Functional and Technical Textiles currently is reviewing proposal of other certification category for products of retaining body warm.

All certificates and hang tags for certified products have a validity period of two years.

While submitting application for antibacterial textile certification, the applicant must enclose an original certification lab report from a third party for dermal irritation test of anti-bacterial agent (PH value < 2) or allergenic test report (allergic reaction) of animal experiment and acute oral toxicity test (mice > 1000 mg/Kg).
